Missouri Botanical Garden Orchid Show Flashback!
As St. Louis eagerly awaits the opening of Missouri Botanical Garden’s Jack C. Taylor Visitor Center, we are deprived yet another year without the annual MBG Orchid Show. How can we possibly survive one more February without stunning orchids? Without impressive thematic backdrops? Without amazing moss people? Garden-Lou is here to help with an MBG Orchid Show flashback, showcasing the past 12 years of colorful blooms, impressive set designs, and yes … even moss people!
So, ignore the cold temps and the 12″ of ice and snow outside. Grab a cup of coffee or hot cocoa and take a virtual stroll through MBG Orchid shows long gone but not forgotten.
The 2010 show featured gigantic butterflies.
In 2011, the moss people were a hit, hiding among the orchids and other tropical plants.
Hanging balloon lanterns make a colorful display above the Asian-inspired lanterns below in 2012.
Specimen bottles strung together made a unique garland in the 2016 show.
“Orchid Mania” was the theme in 2018, addressing the orchid craze of the 1800’s.
The 2019 show featured an elegant portico.
The moss people made another appearance during the last orchid show in 2020.
FYI, just how is the construction progressing on the new Jack C. Taylor Visitor Center? Will it be open as scheduled later this year? Will St. Louis have an orchid show in 2023?
